We Were Not Warned.
We Were Not Ready.
We Are Not Done.

On February 10, 2026, everything changed. The BC government announced a sweeping overhaul of disability supports for children and youth — and nobody was ready. Not families. Not local providers. Not even the Ministry's own Social Workers.

Autism Funding ends March 31, 2027. At Home Program families face the same uncertain transition. A new benefit and supplement system is being phased in over years — while the BC Family Benefit bonus that helped every low- and middle-income household in this province quietly ended in June 2025. The disability supplement meant to fill that gap won't arrive until July 2027.

This isn't about one diagnosis. It's about every child in BC living with a disability — autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, medically complex conditions, rare diagnoses, physical disabilities. Kids on Autism Funding. Kids in the At Home Program. Kids who have never qualified for either and never should have had to fight this hard.

Promises have been made before. Promises have been broken before.

We are parents. We are siblings. We are advocates. We are the whole disability community of BC.

And we are not going away.

“Every parent deserves support, and should not have to fight with each other to get it”‍ ‍
